How to remove press-on nails without damaging your natural nails: a step-by-step guide

What NOT to do, EVER
- ❌ Pull off the press-on nail — this action rips layers of keratin from your natural nail, weakening it for weeks.
- ❌ Use a metal object to pry it off — risk of scratching and damaging the nail plate.
- ❌ Soak in pure acetone without preparation — pure acetone is aggressive on skin and cuticles.
Gentle method recommended by MIBLAB
Step 1: Soften the adhesive
Fill a bowl with warm water and a few drops of mild soap. Soak your fingers for 10–15 minutes. Warm water softens the glue without harming your nails.
Step 2: Gently lift
Using the cuticle stick included in the application kit (CHF 2), gently lift the edge of the press-on nail, near the cuticle. Do not force it — if it resists, soak for another 5 minutes.
Step 3: Clean the residue
Once the press-on nail is removed, a slight adhesive residue may remain. Wipe with a cotton pad soaked in vegetable oil (castor, jojoba, or olive oil) to gently dissolve the residue.
Step 4: Nourish your natural nail
Massage your nails and cuticles with a nourishing oil. This is the time to pamper your natural nails before the next application.
If you used adhesive tabs
Even simpler: soak for 5 minutes in warm soapy water, then gently lift with the stick. Tabs usually leave no residue.
Salvage your press-on nails for reuse
After removal, clean the inside of the press-on nail with a cotton pad soaked in alcohol to remove adhesive residue. Let them dry. They are ready for your next use.
